24 hours of running for a good cause: Bundeship campaign in Vlotho starts!

In the small town of Vlotho, five extreme athletes from the region run to draw attention to the grievances in the health system. The mammoth run, organized by Dennis Volkmann, is currently running and promises to become a remarkable event. The participants, including Thorsten, Theresa, Lara-Marie, Dennis and Dejan, run on treadmills 24 hours at a time. The campaign aims to collect donations for the children's and youth clinic in Herford. WDR reports that the event has started with a nervous but motivated countdown. The participants can only move away from the treadmill for short breaks.

The special thing about this donation run is the connection between extreme sport and social responsibility. Dennis Volkmann developed the idea for this event after struggling with depression in 2016. His experiences in clinics have sensitized him for the urgently needed improvements in the Herford children's clinic. A simple example that Volkmann gives is the lack of basic things like shower curtains. These impressions drive him to fight for the clinic and its young patients.

motivation and destination

The motto of the event reads: "Every kilometer counts!". The athletes collect kilometers for the matter. Dejan, one of the participants, has already had a remarkable case in extreme sport: he covered 5000 kilometers in 27 days and climbed the Zugspitze six times in just six days. In order to train for the 24-hour challenge, Dennis Volkmann runs 70 kilometers weekly. Westfalen-blatt declared and drink during running, although they also eat fifth treadmill for spontaneous members of the gym.

The event takes place at 10 a.m. until Sunday morning. The athletes post their progress on social media to achieve as many people as possible. Sponsors are urgently needed. Interested parties have the opportunity to report to Volkmann and make donations per kilometer. In addition, donations and other forms of support are welcome.

a call to support

The premises for the campaign provide organic sports in Bünde. Representatives of companies and private individuals are invited to participate and support the athletes. According to the website of Plan offer donation runs for all age groups the opportunity to get involved in a good cause.

With this campaign, extreme athletes not only want to collect money, but also raise awareness of the challenges in health care. Through the prospect of support, they hope not only to move back many kilometers, but also to leave a lasting impression in the community.
