Speyerer Judoka shine at Southwest German championships!
The Judo Sports Association Speyer recently achieved remarkable successes at the Southwest German Championships. In Elz-Limburg, a small town in Hesse, the young talents of the club demonstrated their skills on February 17 and 18, 2018 and gained impressive medal yield. These championships are the highlight of the season for many athletes, and the results reflect this. In particular, two athletes, Antonia and Alesia Büttner, drew attention to themselves with their achievements.
A total of several medals were awarded at the tournament. Some of the recent talents had the opportunity to prove themselves in two age groups. The club's internal final, which was organized especially to promote the competition, was another highlight of the event.
Success of the judoka from Speyer
in the U 18 age group, David Fuhrer fought the title of the southwestern German champion in the weight class up to -81 kg and Luca Bößer to -66 kg. Both judoka made decisions in four struggles against national champions from Hesse, Saarland and Rhineland. These remarkable services are particularly worthy of in the face of the high competitive conditions.
In addition, Gabriel Martin became runner -up in the category to -55 kg, while Pia Neumayer in the +78 kg class only ended in the final with a defeat. Bronze medals went to Helena Pantelic (-63 kg) and Sergio Martin (-60 kg), which were also able to qualify for the German individual championships that take place in Herne at the beginning of March.
The way to the German championship
In the U 21 category, Özlem Gülmez and Annika Harter were able to reach second place in the final and were therefore also able to ensure their qualifications for the next championships. Sebastian Schmitt showed a strong performance in an exciting fight up to the Golden Score, but was defeated by the Wiesbaden Daniel Stamm. Michael Bantle and Erik Seith, who won the small final against his teammate Max Hampel, rounded off the successes of JSV Speyer with third places each. Marco Roth graduated in the weight class up to -73 kg with another third place.
Overall, the coaching team is pleased with the performance of the athletes. The success this weekend offers clear approaches to the positive further development of the athletes. The qualifications for the German championships in the age groups are another step in the right direction.
The competitions that give the judokas of the JSV Speyer the opportunity to present themselves on a large stage are not only test stones for their skills, but also opportunities for improving and promoting team spirit in the club. The upcoming championships on 3rd and 4th March in Herne and on 10/11. March in Frankfurt/Oder will be the next challenge for this.
These successes in Elz-Limburg are a testimony to the commitment and perseverance of the athletes and the entire team of the JSV Speyer. Future challenges and the subsequent championships will continue to test both the athletes and the coaching staff.
