Marsberg celebrates 50 years - experience tour with history and nature!

On May 7, 2025, the second stage of the Marsberg adventure tour is imminent. This special event leads the participants from Giershagen to Helminghausen, with the place Helminghausen celebrating its 700th anniversary at the same time. As part of the adventure tour, the 50th anniversary of the city of Marsberg is also recognized, which has emerged from 17 once independent cities and municipalities since 1975, including Giershagen, Helminghausen and Padberg.

The adventure tour is organized by the city of Marsberg in cooperation with the city marketing and the Marsberg business development agency. A total of six hikes are planned under the motto "Connecting places - discover paths", which link the different districts by October. This initiative aims to promote community and to raise awareness of the history and special features of the region, as Mayor Thomas Schröder and Michaela Schröder of City Marketing and Business Development in Marsberg e.V. emphasize.

route and highlights of the hike

The second stage of the hike will take place on Saturday, May 24th. It leads from Giershagen via Padberg to Helminghausen. The route offers the participants the opportunity to hike over the historic Jewish path, explore the plateau and valleys of the region and to visit cultural sights. These include the medieval Petruskirche, the synagogue and the marketplace in Padberg.

The hike also leads to the picturesque Diemeltal, to the border with Waldeck, and towards the Diemelsee. During the tour, the highest point of Marsberg, the Eisenberg, is climbed. The goal of the hike is Helminghausen, where the participants are expected below the bulky wall.

On May 24th and 25th, a colorful program will take place at the Helminghauser Gutsplatz, which is dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the place. For the hikers, a free shuttle service is offered from destination to the starting point to make it easier to travel. Interested parties have to register until May 16 in order to be able to participate in the event.
