Household draft 2025: Winterberg relies on investments and stability!
On December 27, 2024, Mayor Michael Beckmann presented the draft budget for the city of Winterberg. A central result is that no tax increases are planned for the coming year. The budget is compensated for by a responsible financial policy, which represents positive news for the citizens.
The budget draft provides for a comprehensive investment package that is located in the areas of education, security, infrastructure and living. Record trade tax revenues of almost 10 million euros were recorded in Winterberg for 2024. Nevertheless, an expected deficit in the 2025 budget of around 3.5 million euros is forecast, which is to be compensated for by reserves of around 10 million euros. These reserves are particularly important because the city is faced with external financial burdens and increased personnel costs, including in the context of the refugee crisis.
planned investments and challenges
The most important investment fields that are to be funded in the next few years until 2028 include affordable living, the fire brigade infrastructure, the expansion of schools and the ensuring medical care. The restoration of the balance between apartments and permanent apartments and the establishment of a housing association are planned for the area of housing construction. In addition, investments in fire brigade infrastructure and equipment are planned.
The city administration is currently also facing global crises and economic uncertainties that significantly influence the municipal financial situation. Mayor Beckmann therefore demands more support from state and federal politics to reduce the pressure on the municipalities. Special challenges result from refugee migration and the associated tasks that come from both the federal government and the country.
For the future, the city council emphasizes the importance of citizen participation in the development of the villages and recognizes the voluntary commitment. The voluntary grants for these activities should remain stable.
Overall, the financial plan for Winterberg is a central step to ensure the city's ability to act and at the same time make investments for the coming years, as well as Rathaus-winterberg.de
