Serious accident in Bad Driburg: Cyclists with life -threatening injuries!

A fallen cyclist was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Emergency services from the police and emergency services met on site for a 54-year-old man who had fallen with his pedelec without external influence. The cyclist had a helmet with him, but it is unclear whether he was wearing it at the time of the accident.

The man suffered serious injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital. Life -threatening head injuries were found there. A specialized police recording team supported the Bad Driburg police in the accident.

The current statistics also show that in 2023 a total of 23,658 pedelec users had an accident, which is almost eleven times as many as in 2014, when only 2,223 crashed were counted. The number of killed in pedelec accidents has also risen sharply, from 39 in 2014 to 188 in 2023. In the same period, the number of accidents with non-motorized bicycles fell.

This data illustrates the need for more security measures and clarification about the risks when driving pedelec.
