Horses in need: Fire Brigade Borgentreich saves animals from dangerous situations!

The Borgentreich volunteer fire brigade recently demonstrated its skills in animal rescue when a pony stuck in a troublesome location on a pasture in Mühlenstrasse. On the evening of January 31, 2025, the fire brigade was alerted by the concerned horse owner, who reported a "horse in an emergency". The weather was wet and the meadow was very muddy and slippery, so that the pony could no longer get up.

The emergency services of the Borgentreich volunteer fire brigade, which are specially trained for animal rescues and have the necessary material, immediately set off to the site. Their procedure included the guide of straps under the pony. With the help of a wheel loader, the animal was carefully raised and then removed safely. After the rescue operation, the pony immediately walked around again, which was a great relief for everyone present. It turned out that the pony had probably only laid down and could no longer get up on the slippery surface. The condition of the animal was harmless and the owner took care of it while it was still in the pasture.

missions by the Borgentreich fire brigade

The latest use is not the only incident that the fire brigade Borgentreich has demanded in the past few months. Already on June 9, 2024 there was another serious incident in which a horse had fallen into a pit. This assignment, which began in the city of Borgentreich at 10:42 p.m., required an extensive commitment of the local fire brigade.

The alarm of the fire brigades from the city of Borgentreich took place immediately, and a veterinarian was consulted to sedate the frightened horse. In order to safely free the animal from the pit, earth was removed from the horse, and approx. 30 firefighters used special equipment, including "reverse assistants", a technique that the fire brigade comrades learned.

The operation lasted about three and a half hours. Thanks to the professional cooperation of the emergency services, as well as their commitment and know-how, the horse was finally pulled out of the pit without any problems. The horse was released into the barn on the freely at night. After the rescue, a veterinary examination was carried out, and the concerned owner received his horse back.

These two incidents illustrate the important role that the fire brigade Borgentreich plays in animal rescue. The trained emergency services are always attentive and willing to help both people and animals in emergencies and to ensure their security.
