50 years of photo club aperture 8: anniversary exhibition in Kalkar-Wissel!

On April 7, 2025, the Klever Photo Club Blend 8 celebrates its 50th anniversary. The club was originally founded as a photo and narrow film club Kleve and has had its current name since 1979. He is known across the city limits and combines photo enthusiasts from amateurs to professionals.

The members of the club have achieved several successes in photo competitions over the years. Blende 8 was able to win first place in the Lower Rhine photo competition several times. Individual members such as Wolfgang Johannes and Jürgen Lang were already characterized by special achievements in the 1980s. In addition, the club organizes numerous exhibitions and events that present the photographic work of the members.

The roots of the club go back to 1975 when it was founded as a photo and narrow film club. In 1979 the separation of the photo and film fans to found the photo club Blend 8. Wolfgang Johannes, an active member since that time, has had numerous successes in various competitions, such as the Lower Rhine photo competition. The club won competition in 1981 and 1982 and continued this success in the following years.

The exhibition "Praise of the little people" by Bruno Meesters, which took place in the Koekkoek house in 2021, was particularly remarkable. Regular club evenings offer members the opportunity to discuss pictures and creative ideas, while an annual club championship characterizes the best works.

anniversary exhibition in the Abbey Museum

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary, a special anniversary exhibition is carried out in the Kalkar-Wissel Abbey Museum. The exhibition will open on April 27, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. and shows both current works by the members and a collection of historical cameras. Entry to the exhibition, which runs until May 25, 2025, is free. Opening times are on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Members of the club are available for discussions and questions during opening hours.
