District of Kleve celebrates 50 years - festive events and digital highlights!
The district of Kleve will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. On the occasion of this anniversary, which goes back to the municipal reorganization of 1975, an extensive program of festive events and digital formats was announced. District Administrator Christoph Gerwers emphasized that the anniversary should be brought closer to the citizens of the district.
Three festive events are planned in the cities of Rees, Geldern and Kleve: The first in Rees on March 21st, followed by Geldern on May 9th and the final ceremony in Kleve on November 21. In order to ensure a broad representation of the population, there will be a contingent of tickets that are raffled off. Details on the ticket raffle and the content of the events will be announced promptly by the district administration.digital anniversary formats
As part of the anniversary, there will also be digital formats. Among other things, this includes the annual “50 years of 50 years”, in which a “highlight” or “insider tip” from the district area is presented every week. These 50 eye -catchers were selected together with the 16 cities and municipalities. In addition, a digital exhibition entitled "Time jumps" is offered that compares historical photos with more recent motifs. The exhibition that under the direction of district archivist Dr. Beate Sturm and her team were created, presented various motifs, including the Museum Schloss Moyland and the site of the old Klever harbor. This digital exhibition is presented both as part of the festive events and online.
In addition, the home club Materborn celebrated its 50th anniversary. The first chairman of the association, Birgit Walterfang, recalled in her opening speech that she had just learned to run and speak at the year of the association. The name of the association has changed over the years; The home club was originally responsible, among other things, for garden evaluation and crowned a garden queen every year. Nowadays, the association is organizing events such as the Memorial Day and the Nicolaus celebrations. Franz Derksen as well as Gerd and Thea Derks were particularly honored for their long -term loyalty to the association, since they have been active in the club since it was founded.
These two significant events emphasize the history and commitment of the community in the district of Kleve and Materborn and testify to the lively tradition that is still being maintained.
