Hanns-Dieter Hüsch: Celebrate a century full of laughter and live in Kleve!

On May 6, 2025, Hanns-Dieter Hüsch would have celebrated his 100th birthday. On this special occasion, the Klever Bookstore Hintzen plans a homage to the famous cabaret artists and "philosophical clown". The event will take place on Tuesday, May 13th, at 7.30 p.m. and promises to offer a varied program.

The reading is headed by the radio spokeswoman Elisabeth Verhoeven, accompanied by the accordionist Hartmut Magon. The program includes both biographical and political texts and cabaret elements that were typical of Hüsch's style. Figures such as Ditz Atrops and Hagenbuch, who shaped Hüschs, are also the focus. Topics such as food, peace and the life of the Lower Rhine are discussed in a distinctive way.

a life in cabaret

Hanns-Dieter Hüsch was born on May 6, 1925 in Moers and gained great fame through his unique kind of cabaret art. His lecture style, reminiscent of a medieval bank singer, combined thoughtful songs with recitations, accompanied by his Philicorda organ, which became a trademark. In his appearances, he criticized everyday life and illuminated the life of little people. Hüsch not only left a deep influence on cabaret art, but also an impressive oeuvre of over 70 stage programs and more than 50 published albums.

The cabaret "Unterhaus" in Mainz was a central place in Hüsch's career, where many of his programs were premiered. In addition to his cabaret career, Hüsch also worked as a book author, moderator, actor and voice actor and received the German Cabaret Award several times, 1972 and 1982.

The Klever Bookstore Hintzen invites all interested parties to experience part of this cultural heritage and to recall the great cabaret artists.
