Kleve Tiergarten: New attractions and impressive number of visitors!
On January 27, 2025, the Kleve zoo became the setting for an important meeting. Member of the Bundestag Stefan Rouenhoff visited the Tiergarten again to find out about the developments and changes in the popular leisure goal. Together with Martin Polotzek, Managing Director of the Tiergarten Kleve, and Marie-Christine Kuypers, managing director of the German Tierpark Society, Rouenhoff discussed the recent progress on site.
The Kleve zoo is in an upward movement. For 2024, the facility expects almost 200,000 visitors, which not only reflects the popularity of the zoo, but also has positive effects on local gastronomy and business world. In particular, the emphasis on the importance of zoological institutions for education, species and nature conservation by Kuypers increases the relevance of the animal garden in the region.
special features and further developments
rouenhoff was impressed by the development of animal husbandry. The zoo has changed from traditional enclosures to habitat -related enclosures. The trample animal system is currently being expanded and enlarged. These measures are part of a larger master plan that aims to increase the economic importance of the zoo.
Visitors can also look forward to numerous new attractions. The introduction of new animal species such as prairie dogs, reindeer and waters cancer as well as the construction of a walk -in prairie dog system are just a few examples. Another highlight is the introduction of the sloth Carlo and Frieda, who are already considered visitor favorites.
successful young gains
The Tiergarten Kleve also lists gratifying success in animal breeding. Various animal species, including dwarf silk chops, dwarf and even meerkats, enjoy offspring. The latter have produced the first successful youngsters in over a decade.
Special attractions in winter are the walk-in prairie dog and the Playmore Fantasy adventure playground. In addition, the zoo is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in winter, and the zoo snack on Friday to Sunday offers culinary offers, including currywurst and fries.
Rouenhoff praised the development of the zoo since his last visit three and a half years ago. The good cooperation with political actors is of crucial importance for Polotzek to improve the framework conditions for animal husbandry and to advance changes in the Animal Welfare Act.
The Tiergarten Kleve positions itself as an important place of recreation for families in the region and remains in conversation with sustainable projects and educational work. All in all, the positive development and the innovative alignment of the animal garden hope for a continued good future.
