Design highlight in Cologne: Passagen 2025 promises creative diversity!

On December 29, 2024, the organizer Sabine Voggenreiter announced the news for the largest urban design show in Germany, the passages. This event will take place in 2025 under the new under text "Interior Design Days" from January 10th to 16th. The passages present a wide range of events and exhibitions that deal with the current trends in the interior design design.

Unlike in previous years, the design show takes place this year regardless of the international furniture fair, which was canceled. A total of around 100 events and exhibitions in galleries, furnishing houses, cultural institutions, museums, showrooms, universities and halls will take place. The palette ranges from living accessories to table decoration and dishes to living landscapes and high-end usable furniture.

diverse program and special exhibitions

The event also includes special highlights such as the “7000 Years' Jewelry Art Collection, which will be seen in the Museum of Applied Arts Cologne (Makk). The QVEST Store will present Italian design classics by Memphis Milano and Gufram. In addition, the designer Tower, which is housed in the listed former fabric pavilion Moeller, will offer a platform for outstanding designs and innovative furniture. Particularly talented young designers from North Rhine-Westphalia are in focus here.

Voggenreiter sees the cancellation of the furniture fair as an opportunity to promote an independent presentation of innovative creative forces in Cologne. Although the trend towards increased representation of design studios is recognizable and the international furniture fair will not take place parallel to the passages, it does not expect a significant decline in visitor numbers, since about 80% of visitors have not been the furniture fair in the past. Traditional hotspots for the passages are the city center, the Belgian quarter and honor field.

The design festival "Passages" will also present the international design scene and give insights into current designs and furniture, as cologne-tourism.com This initiative not only promotes diversity in interior design, but also combines digital networks with physical rooms that remain important for humanity.
