Carnival Neuwied 2025: A feast of the community after a three -year break!

After a three -year panda mie -up interruption, the Carnival in the Vocational Training Center (BBW) Neuwied finally took place in 2024. This event not only showed the return of traditional customs, but also how much the sense of community had suffered without a carnival. In view of this meaning, the planning for the carnival celebration 2025 was carried out immediately after the celebration in the previous year in order to further strengthen the newly sparked community life. The uncertainty about the implementation of the celebration therefore stirred that it was to be designed independently for everyone involved - both for participants and for employees and residents.

A committed group of participants prepared the celebration for over six months. The organization received valuable support from Laura Thilemann, Caroline Giebel, Mauricio Böhm, Nina Grünig, Florian Berger and Georg Gierenstein. The carnival celebration in 2025 was made public and received funding from Aktion Mensch.

a colorful program and diverse performances

The program included a variety of own skits and entertaining appearances that were very happy with the audience. The "Waldorf and Statler" duo, which delighted the audience with its humor, was particularly remarkable. The dance group "Deaf Leppards", consisting of deaf participants of the BBW, also appeared and danced to current TikTok clips. External dance groups, including employees and employees of the Heinrich House, also contributed to the event and ensured a varied framework.

The celebration was described as a complete success. It led to a positive mood and was sustainably promoted by the professional support of the building services. The anticipation for the next carnival celebration in 2026 is already noticeable, which shows how important such events are for the sense of community In addition to the celebration in the vocational training center, the oldest inner-city carnival society, Spark Rot-Weiss 1884 e.V. Neuwied, also has a significant influence on the carnival traditions in the region. The association, which maintains a long and successful history, is active with around 165 members and organizes numerous events during the carnival season. Their motto "Tradition means: not worship of the ashes, but spark the fire" underpins the spirit of the Rhenish Carnival.

The carnival already originated in the 19th century when a bourgeois form of the festival was created in Cologne. Important elements such as the carnival journeyman and the establishment of carnival societies shaped this time. Even today, the carnival in the region is a place of encounter and plays an important role as an economic factor. The various rituals and traditions, but also the political topics processed in handmade speeches and motif cars, allow the carnival to constantly reinvent themselves and reflect on social change.

The Rheinische Carnival is not only celebrated as a festival, but also as something that brings together the region, which is impressively documented by the efforts of both the actors in the BBW and the spark of red and white. In the coming year there is another opportunity to continue and celebrate these traditions.
