Sincerely: Beate Gather leaves the forest forest school after 30 years

Beate Gather took a significant farewell after three decades at the forest forest school in Krefeld. At the official farewell, which was led by Mayor Frank Meyer , he praised her passion and commitment to school. "She was a teacher with body and soul," emphasized Meyer and referred to her memorable guiding principle: "Every child must have the feeling of being worth something." This principle has shaped Gather's work at the forest forest school and shows its deep conviction of the importance of individual appreciation of each individual student.

Gather, who had been a headmistress since 2016, had previously worked as a teacher for many years. Despite the high organizational requirements, she always remained actively in class and was closely involved in school life. During her term, the number of students almost doubled from 100 to 200, which the school presented with new challenges. Despite this growth, the forest forest school retained its family character and continued to convey social responsibility among the students.

social projects and challenges

The forest forest school is committed to social projects, such as a mediator program and a donation system that supports disadvantaged children. A special highlight is the tradition that each child receives a tree from the local forester, which is in harmony with the school motto. Gather himself has also launched projects such as a circus project and initiatives to promote musical education and thus support the creative potential of the students.

A serious problem had to be mastered in 2018, as static defects in the school building made a move of the classes necessary. Corona pandemic was also an additional challenge for the school, which, however, could be successfully mastered. Gather has emphasized that the art of teachers is to perceive and promote children in their individuality.

a new phase of life

Now Beate Gather plans to actively shape her retirement. She would like to spend the time with sports and trips and has expressed the desire to continue working with children in another function. Its work not only shaped the school environment, but also influenced the culture of education in Krefeld. The forest forest school and its students will surely miss Gather's influence and their tireless efforts.

Education policy in Germany, such as it is handled in the federal states, is shown in the different forms of schools. While the primary school period begins at around four years old, compulsory schooling extends up to the age of 18 and runs through various educational levels, all of which pursue their own goal. This makes it clear how important committed teachers like Beate Gather are for the contemporary education and development of children. It is thanks to their commitment that the forest forest school is not only a place of learning, but also social responsibility.
