Krefeld schools inspire with a new MINT project for technology and natural sciences
The Albert Schweitzer Realschule in Krefeld recently participated in the education initiative "Tuwas! Rhineland-technology and natural sciences in schools". The aim of this initiative is to arouse enthusiasm for natural sciences and technology among students. The project is supported by Siemens Mobility GmbH and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Middle Lower Rhine, which underline the importance of MINT formation (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology) in order to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in these areas.
As part of the project, the subject of "movement and construction" learn the subject of fifth and sixth graders. Teachers Lukas Reims emphasize how important new, action -oriented teaching opportunities are in order to promote the interests of the students. Headmistress Christina Eckhard sees in Tuwas! An excellent opportunity to strengthen the MINT area at your school and discover talents. Training manager Julia Fuchs from Siemens Mobility emphasizes that young people have to experience the natural sciences and technology themselves in order to develop a real interest.
The importance of mint formation
- 166 schools take tuwas! Part, over 24,000 students are involved.
- schools can participate free of charge if you enter into a funding partnership with a company, a foundation or a business -related association.
- tuwas! pursues the objective of increasing the enthusiasm for MINT subjects, promoting teamwork and language education and familiarizing pupils with methodological working methods.
The challenges in the fight against the shortage of skilled workers in MINT professions are diverse. In addition to the demographic change and negative prejudices that hold young people from these professions, production bottlenecks and quality deficiencies are also consequences of the lack of specialists. In order to master these challenges, investments in education and training as well as the promotion of internship and training programs are essential. Initiatives such as the "MINT-Mobil" also offer interactive workshops to further increase interest in MINT subjects.
Close cooperation between politics, business and educational institutions is crucial to overcome future challenges. Successful networks that jointly develop measures to promote MINT professions are a promising approach. The initiative "Tuwas!" represents an important building block in this strategy to inspire young people for the MINT world and prepare them for the requirements of the labor market.
