Celtic sounds and young talents: inspire concerts in the Eifgen house!
The "Seachain Na Gaeilge" festival, which takes place from March 1 to 17, has established itself as the world's largest festival in the Irish language. It attracts over a million listeners on five continents. This year the Eifgen house is involved in the celebrations in Wermelskirchen and is planning a special event as part of the concert series "Celtic Voyage".
On March 10th, award -winning young musicians from Scotland will perform, including Eryn Rae on the violin, Maire McGillivray on vocals, Ailish Sutherland with bagpipes and whistles as well as guitarist Pablo Lafuente. This concert testifies to the diversity and wealth of the Irish music scene, impressively represented by Lisa Sheahan-Kunitz, which grew up in the southwest of Ireland.
The Celtic stronghold in the Bergisches Land
Since 2020, the Eifgen house has established itself in Wermelskirchen as a center of Celtic music. Not only concerts are offered here, but also various music styles such as rock, blues, jazz and folk are presented. The average number of visitors is between 80 and 120 guests per concert, which underlines the popularity of the events.
Adrian Kunitz, the head of the cultural association, is planning a number of six to eight concerts for 2025. The Kunitz family has lived in Wermelskirchen since 1996 and is strongly connected to the Irish music scene. Despite the challenges of booking artists from Ireland and Scotland, which arise from high transport and equipment costs, interest in these events remains unbroken.
