Lang of teachers in North Rhine -Westphalia: 8000 jobs remain vacant!

In North Rhine-Westphalia, around 8,000 teaching positions remain vacant, which leads to a significant loss of lessons. The loss of lessons is 4.8%, which corresponds to around every 20th lesson. Furthermore, 10% of the lessons are represented in representation. These figures were presented as part of the first -time teaching statistics for every public school in NRW. School Minister Dorothee Feller emphasizes that this data is used for transparency and do not represent the schools.

For the city of Leverkusen, all secondary schools were analyzed, apart from three educational institutions. The focus here was on secondary level I, while the evaluation of the primary schools is still pending. At the secondary school on Neukronenberger Straße, only 60% of the scheduled teaching is granted, 20% are eliminated on representation lessons, while 8% of the lessons are without replacement. The two comprehensive schools in Leverkusen record about 73% planned lessons and 10% "lessons in a special form".

detailed statistics of the Leverkusen schools

The Käthe-Kollwitz comprehensive school in Rheindorf has the least replacement loss with 3.9%. At the Schlebusch comprehensive school, 1.7% of the lessons also fell as distance lessons. At the secondary schools, the Theodor-Wuppermann secondary school has a loss of 8.8% without a replacement, while the Catholic secondary school in Hederichsfeld is 7.7% above the NRW average of 5.9%.

Three schools do better than the national average of 6.5%at the secondary schools. The Realschule am Stadtpark has a replacement loss of 6.5%, the Montanus Realschule is 5.9%, and Theodor Heuss Realschule has 5.6%. The Montanus Realschule offers 88% planned lessons, with only 2% "lessons in a special form".

Among the high schools there are small differences. The district administrator-Lucas-Gymnasium has a substitute for representation of 16% and 7.6% lesson loss. The Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium has 5% loss of lessons and 1.6% distance lessons, while the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium gives 78.5% regular lessons.

For the special schools, the Pestalozzi school shows a lesson in 78% according to the schedule, with 3.7% replacement failure. The special school on the Wupper, on the other hand, records 19% substitute hours and also 3.7% without a substitute for lessons. It is noteworthy that there is no data for the Hugo Kükelhaus School.

School Minister Feller makes it clear that the statistics do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about teaching quality. The high proportion of representative hours is due to the lack of teachers and the large number of diseases. In fact, more than half of the unplanned deviations due to illness -related failures of teachers are conditioned.

The comprehensive analysis and data collection is considered significant in order to increase and support transparency in classification, and underlines the efforts of the school ministry to counteract the shortage of teachers. For example, over 7,400 additional employees have been hired in the schools since two years ago, while almost 12,000 new employees, including more than 10,000 teachers, have been added since December 2022, such as Land.NRW reported.

In summary, it can be said that the new data on teaching failures offer significant insights into the current situation in the schools of North Rhine-Westphalia, such as Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger determined.
