Rescue guard in Blomberg: Lippe district will take over the company from April!

The district of Lippe takes over the operation of the rescue station in Blomberg on April 1, 2025. This happens after the contract for the operation of the guard with the Johannitern was extremely terminated. The reasons for the termination of the contract are significant: it was found that the Johanniter contractually agreed obligations, including essential quality standards and security requirements, have not complied with, such as Blomberg News reported.

Currently there are two ambulances in Blomberg (one in 24-hour operation and one in day operation) as well as an ambulance transport car in day operation. After the Johanniter rescuer moved out, the ambulance was stationed at the fire station in Blomberg.

conversion and future planning

The fire brigade in Blomberg has renovated the rescue station and will use it for its own vehicles in the future. The new rescue station was founded in 2017 at Diestelbach after the foundation stone was laid in June 2017. From April 1, 2025, the Johanniter will no longer work in the public service emergency services of the district of Lippe. In addition, after 14 years they also hand over the health insurance.

In recent years, the Johanniter in the region have lost several rescue guards. These include locations in Lemgo, Detmold, Horn-Bad Meinberg and snakes. These developments raise questions about future emergency care, but the district of Lippe emphasizes that medical emergency care in the Blomberg pension area is still guaranteed.

Current missions and services

The Johanniter Rescue Service in Blomberg comprises various operations around the clock. On Monday to Friday, an ambulance is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and an ambulance from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. On weekends and public holidays, a second ambulance is on duty from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. There is also an additional reserve vehicle for technical failures. The number +49 5261-19222 can be used for patient transports, as the Johanniter explains in detail.

The upcoming changes in Blomberg not only reflect the challenges in the emergency services, but also the developments of the Order of Johanniter in the region. Amelie Jung, one of the Johanniter patient pilots, who took care of traumatized people from Ukraine, illuminates the social challenges and needs of medical services. Despite the organizational changes, the support in emergency care remains essential.
