roadpol: a network for traffic safety

The RoadPol initiative, which emerged from the cooperation of the traffic police of the EU member states, has the goal of reducing the number of traffic fatalities and seriously injured people on European roads. Initiatives of this kind are of central importance because they coordinate national regulations and carry out nationwide vehicle inspections.

With the conviction that effective traffic monitoring and preventive measures inevitably contribute to reducing traffic accidents, Roadpol cooperates closely with road traffic authorities. The Slogan "Crossing borders to save life" sums up the common goal of the organization. Germany is represented by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in this initiative.

The RoadPol initiative also includes the promotion of research in the field of traffic safety, the organization and coordination of Europe-wide operations as well as the exchange of experiences between the member states. Such measures are essential to sustainably improve traffic safety and protect human life.

The exciting, but also worrying numbers for traffic accidents and violations illustrate the need to continuously draw attention to the importance of safety precautions. Further information on the statistics and the individual initiatives can be found at Eurostat .
