On March 17, 2025, a 54-year-old man was brutally stabbed in Rösrath-Hoftungsthal. The alleged perpetrator, a 32-year-old man, was arrested 15 days after the bloody deed. The arrest took place on April 1, 2025 in Poland by the Cologne police, reports Express .

The suspect has been searched for an international arrest warrant since the incident. According to the police spokesman, the 32-year-old attacked the victim after visiting a restaurant and seriously injured him. The victim was attacked when it just wanted to get into the car with his companion. The perpetrator immediately disappeared after the crime and had previously bothered several guests in the restaurant, including the eyewitness, who noticed that the attacker wore a knife in a holster under his jacket.

arrest and investigation

The Cologne police initiated an extensive commitment, which included the search and securing of evidence. An adjacent cemetery was closed to prevent evidence, and two days after the operation, the perpetrator's alleged holster was found. The arrested person is currently in extradition custody in Poland. The investigation into this attempted homicide continues. The background of the crime is so far unclear and the arrested person can be represented.

in Rösrath, however, has not only been sad in the past few weeks. A positive event was the carnival parade in Hoffnsthal, which was characterized by colorful costumes and exuberant mood. Pupils of the GGS Hope Sthal actively took part in the move, in the frame of which throwing material with Fairtrade-Kamelle was used for the first time. These are traded fairly and packaged in an environmentally friendly manner, such as Rheinische Adsblätter reported.

sustainability and fair trade

The GGS Hoffsthal support association supports the city of Rösrath on the way to the Fairtrade city. The focus is on the awareness of sustainable and fairly traded products for certification. The Hoffnsthal interest group donates 350 euros for the Fairtrade litter material. The motto of the throwing material was: "Colorful, tasty and fair". The initiative "Jecke Fairsuchung", which has been committed to fairly traded throwing material since 2002, is under the patronage of the Cologne crime scene commissioners Klaus J. Behrendt and Dietmar Bär. The city of Rösrath supports this initiative and offers information on Fairtrade.
