The Erkrath city library offers an appealing program for active people aged 55 and over with its “Down from the sofa” event series. The aim of this initiative is to bring older people into social exchange and to promote their mental and physical activity. The meetings take place every Thursday from 3 p.m. in the Hochdahl community center, whereby participation is free of charge and no prior registration is required. The program starts in February 2025 with diverse activities.

Visitors can look forward to varied afternoons. On February 6, a board and card game afternoon are offered, to which everyone is invited to bring their own games with them or to use the available games in the library, such as Supertipp-online.de reported. A week later, on February 13th, the focus is on memory training, in which participants can improve their concentration and noticability with Sudoku, crossword puzzles and puzzles.

February 20 is devoted to literary topics: The “Liebent texte afternoon” invites you to present book figures in text excerpts and thus revive their own childhood memories. In the last week of February an open themed meeting will take place that deals with local customs as well as regional differences and historical developments.

The memory training afternoon took place a week later, on January 9, followed by a favorite text afternoon on January 16, in which the participants dealt with trivial literature.
