Sporty fun for everyone: cycling day for children in the Rather Waldstadion!
On Thursday, May 7th, the Special Petit Départ takes place in the Rather Waldstadion in Düsseldorf, a significant cycling day for children with special educational needs. According to lintorfer , 164 students from the region, especially from Düsseldorf, Mettmann, Erkrath and Ratingen, take part in the event. The organizers, led by the sports office of the state capital of Düsseldorf, have prepared a variety of disciplines, including time trials, sprint and a skill course.
The event is supported by 40 supervising and 25 volunteers, including students from the Elly-Heuss-Knapp Vocational School. These helpers play a central role to ensure that the children can enjoy a safe and pleasant atmosphere. The participants have the opportunity to compete in different competitions with bicycles, tandems or wheelchairs.
diverse support and prices
The Special Petit Départ is supported not only by the Stadtsportbund, which provides a sports bus, but also by the Tandem Burkard Zülow Foundation, which provides special tricycles for two people. At the final award ceremony, to which the city director and sports director Burkhard Hintzsche will also be present, all participants receive a T-shirt. In addition, documents and medals are awarded to the successful athletes. It is also worth mentioning that the Franz-Marc School, the LVR School at the Volksgarten, the Minna School of the Graf-Recke Foundation, the Neanderland Mettmann school and the Helen-Keller-Schule Ratingen will take part in the event. The situation was particularly unfortunate for the Neanders countries because they could not come to the event due to transport problems. Nikolas Angermann, an employee of the sports office, therefore plans to bring special participant shirts to the envious children of the Neanderland school in order to prepare them, such as RP Online reported.
The way to an inclusive sports landscape
The Special Petit Départ is not only a cycling day, but also an important step towards an inclusive sports landscape. This includes the "Index for Inclusion in and through Sport", which was developed by the German Disabled Sports Association. This aid offers sports associations and associations to actively promote inclusion and to enable participation, such as DBS-The German Disabled Sports Association Explained.
The index aims to promote awareness of inclusion in organized sport and promote self -determination as well as equality. With different information materials, the index offers valuable help for everyone who wants to act inclusive. This is a sustain of a future in which everyone, regardless of their needs, can actively participate in sports.
