New hope for abused animals: four-hufe-farm opened in Stahne!

The association "Horses and Donkey in Need" based in Heinsen celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. In the region, the association is committed to abused and neglected horses and donkeys. However, the situation is currently tense: With only two recording places, the association is often forced to reject inquiries because the capacities urgently need to be expanded. In order to counter this challenge, the association has leased a former bull stable in Stahne, which is known as a "four-hufe-farm". Here the association plans to set up ten additional emergency places to offer a better home.

The new location in Stahne is located on the Business Way in the Bülte. The association pursues a clear goal: the animals should be maintained healthy and then conveyed in responsible hands. The association not only receives support from members, but also from the village, which provides transport aids for an artificial turf. This artificial turf is necessary to offer the animals outdoors a soft, dry and clean surface.

help from skilled workers

The association works closely with various specialists, including a veterinarian, a Hufschmiedin and an osteopath. These experts sometimes provide free support to offer the animals the best possible care. The 100 members of the association contribute to the financing, which is mainly ensured by donations from companies. Various measures are planned to increase the awareness of the association in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The pony mare Fenja, which lives in the North Sea region due to a respiratory disease, can be cited as an impressive example of the work of the association. However, his commitment also shows the challenges with which animal welfare associations are confronted. They are often overloaded and cannot accommodate all emergency horses. According to the Tierschutzbund , many horses suffer from grievances such as poor food, lack of drinking water or even painful hoof diseases.

animal welfare in focus

The topic of animal welfare is now a central point in animal welfare, but is discussed controversially. Evaluation of animal welfare is particularly important in terms of keeping animals and the production of food. Animal welfare is often evaluated on the basis of the five freedoms of the Farm Animal Welfare Council that define the basic needs of animals to avoid pain and suffering.

There are moments in Germany when animal welfare organizations, such as the German Animal Welfare Association or Peta, reach their limits. It remains a constant challenge to create enough space and resources to meet the needs of animals. Especially at a time when the integration of sustainable and species -appropriate ways of life into everyday life is becoming more important for many people, the use of such clubs is of essential importance.

Overall, it can be seen that not only the association "horses and donkeys in need", but numerous other organizations are dependent on high social responsibility to support animals in need and to enable them to live better. Vehemente social support is essential to further advance animal welfare in Germany, in particular to ensure that animals receive care and attention that they earn.
