Refurbishment of the Bomig roundabout: closure and new barriers!
The renovation of the Bomig-Nord roundabout is imminent. From January 15, 2025, the section of the Bomiger Strasse between the confluence "Am Steinberg" and the roundabout will be fully blocked. This reports Oberberg Aktuell . The city of Wiehl is the main clerk of the project, which provides for a new road surface over a length of around 220 meters.
Derirandings are signposted, while traffic to Carl-Zeiss-Straße and Breidenbrucher Straße remains possible for the residents of Gummersbach-Dieringhausen. During the construction work, traffic lights are used to regulate the flow of traffic.
accessibility in the focus
A central goal of the renovation project is to improve accessibility. The hub is equipped with barrier pedestrian crossings and zebra crossing. In addition, measures are implemented in accordance with the relevant technical regulations such as DIN 18040-3 for barrier-free transport plants. These regulations include specific requirements for the design of traffic and outdoor facilities for people with disabilities.
The sidewalks are widened and the lighting is renewed to ensure a safe passage for pedestrians. In addition, agger energy partially renews water pipes and house connections, which entails the need for additional construction work.
time frame and financing
The first construction phase of the roadway renovation should be completed by August 2025. Afterwards a further full closure will be made towards Dieringhausen. Access is only possible from bomig. Overall, the construction work should be completed by April 1, 2026.
The project is financed 75 percent by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which corresponds to a sum of 784,600 euros. The comprehensive planning and the use of technical regulations ensure that the needs of all road users, in particular the persons restricted mobility, are taken into account in this important infrastructure project.
