Hans-Leo Kausemann, a man of great importance for the Wipperfürth region and beyond, died on May 2 at the age of 87. Kausemann, who has been politically active for over 35 years, leaves a remarkable legacy that is characterized by commitment and humanity. Mayor Anne Loth and the Oberbergische Kreis have already expressed their grief for the former mayor and honorary citizen. His political work began in 1969 when he was elected to the city council of Wipperfürth for the CDU.
on June 6, 1978, his 41st birthday, Kausemann took up his position as mayor, which he held until 1999. During this time he was particularly valued and enjoyed great reputation among the population. In addition to his mayor's office, Kausemann was the first full -time district administrator of the Oberberg district from 1994 to 1999. Another important part of his political career was his membership in the district council from 1975 to 1999, where he also served as a volunteer district administrator from 1989 to 1994.

Kausemann's commitment to the citizens exceeded the limits of local politics. After training as a banker, he took over the management of the Berg and Mark cooperative. He was also the chairman of the supervisory board of the Oberbergisches Ausbaugesellschaft and a member of the Aggerverband's association council. In 1989 he received the ring of honor of the Hanseatic city of Wipperfürth and was recognized as a carer who took care of the concerns of the people in the region.
Kausemann's social responsibility also extended to the Eugen-Wolfrich-Kersting Foundation, which offers old-fashioned apartments and nursing places.
