Spring cleaning in Oberhausen: Together for a clean city!

From March 22nd to 29th, 2025, Oberhausen is again about cleanliness and environmental awareness. The 20th spring cleaning, organized by the municipal waste consultation and Wirtschaftsbetriebe Oberhausen GmbH (WBO), is entirely under the motto "Pure and discover". The aim of the event is to raise awareness of environmental protection and at the same time explore the home environment. Mayor Daniel Schranz is grateful for the support of numerous helpers and regional partners who promote the project through donations in kind.

As part of the spring cleaning, an anniversary campaign is offered that combines guided city tours. In these tours, participants can not only collect garbage, but also get exciting insights into the city's history. Registrations for these tours have already started, currently over 7,685 interested parties have registered. In the previous year, 6,661 people took part in the spring cleaning and collected around 22.5 tons of garbage.

guided tours and equipment

The guided city tours are a central element of this year's event. They are planned as follows:

  • railway line and stop in the old center
    Date: March 22, 2025, 2:00 p.m. to approx. 3:30 p.m.
  • sterkrade
    Date: March 28, 2025, 3:00 p.m. to approx. 4:30/17: 00 pm
  • Zeche, Kokerei and State Garden Show in the Olga-Park
    Date: March 29, 2025, 2:00 p.m. to approx. 3:30 p.m.

Necessary materials such as warning vests, pliers, gloves and garbage bags are provided for the participants. Registration for the tours takes place online or by phone until March 21, 2025. It is recommended to register early because the places are limited.

In addition, a sense of community is promoted as part of spring cleaning - the cooperation between individuals, friends and families or groups is in the foreground. In order to increase motivation, prices for the participating groups and individuals are raffled off.

The role of local partners

The event is not only worn by the commitment of the city administration. Numerous local companies and cultural institutions support spring cleaning with donations in kind, while some regional partners provide donations to the "Catholic Youth Work Oberhausen - Die Kurbel". This financial support helps to further improve the quality of life in the city and to establish the initiative for cleanliness. Cooperation with these local actors shows how important a community approach is for environmental protection and urban development.

To promote this initiative, everyone can be interested in information and register at cleanes-oberhausen.de . Spring cleaning has established itself in Oberhausen in the past 20 years and reflects a strong commitment of the citizens for the environment.
