Big dinner quiz: 12,187 euros for children in the Olpe women's shelter!
On January 25, 2025, the second dinner quiz of the association women Olpe took place in the Mubea main building in Attendorn. The event proved to be a complete success and achieved a revenue of 12,187 euros. This sum will benefit the children in the Olpe women's shelter, an institution that offers protection many children and adolescents every year.
The participants were divided into eight teams and competed against each other in an exciting competition. A total of around 90 quiz questions had to be answered, which came from different categories such as general knowledge, regional, geography, culture, natural sciences, politics, history and sport. Questions like "Where are the Langerhans Islands?" And "Who won the Olpe 2023 Culture Prize?" challenged the knowledge of the teams, whereby the winning team "Die Spachairsche" took first place.
donations for a better living environment
The organizers Titia Hensel, Gisela Lehwald and Teresa Mason-Hermann were very satisfied with the course and the result of the event. Natascha Kempf-Dornseifer took over the moderation and also gave insights into the valuable work of the association. The funds collected are used to complete the play and gardens of the women's shelter. The aim is to create a safe outdoor area for playing and lingering for children seeking protection and their mothers who have often experienced traumatic.
The need for such facilities is shown by the numbers: around 15,000 children and young people in German women's shelters are used, often they have to be rejected due to lack of space, as in a report by Stadt-Anzeiger . The financing of these facilities is precarious, which means that leisure, educational and therapy offers for children can often only be realized sporadically and by donations.
In addition, the development of projects to support affected children is promoted by the Association for the Women's Hall coordination (FHK), which contributes to strengthening children and interruption of violent behavior patterns. The current event makes a contribution to this important task and thus not only supports direct help for those affected, but also the creation of a more livable environment in the women's shelter.
