New keeper for SpVG Olpe! Hendrik Höh makes his debut on the bench

The SpVG Olpe recently obliged a new goalkeeper to support the team in the current season. The 21-year-old Hendrik Höh was sitting on the bench for the first time in 1: 3 against SC Drolshagen. Höh is available as an alternative to goalkeeping coach Janek Müller and Senol-Enver Kabli. Before he started his commitment to SpVG Olpe, Höh gained valuable experience in 34 Oberliga games for TSG Sprockhövel.

Höh was trained by Borussia Dortmund for four years during his youth. However, his sporting career made an unexpected turn because he was without a game practice for several months. Nevertheless, the commitment of Höh is limited until the end of the season, and SpVG Olpe is already planning with new talents for the future. Niklas Luksch from SV Hohenlimburg and Tobias Fuchs from Türk Attendorn are to join the team in the 2025/26 season.

Change to the American Football

An interesting turn in Höh's career is his planned switch to American football. From June 2024, the young athlete will concentrate on this sporting discipline. He has celebrated success in American football in the past and was recognized by the Lüdenscheid Lightnings as "Rookie of the Year". Last season he achieved both a touchdown and five interceptions, which demonstrated his skills on the pitch.

The popularity of American football in Germany is growing steadily. The highest division, the GFL (German Football League), comparable to the 1st Bundesliga, attracts more and more players and fans. In North Rhine-Westphalia there is even a 7th league, which underlines the sport of sport. Höh could have a promising career in this context, while at the same time taking the transition from football to American football.

The decision of the SpVG Olpe to sign Hendrik Höh shows the dynamics in regional football and the need to adapt to the challenges of the season. Those responsible are optimistic that the new goalkeeper will bring a breath of fresh air to the team while they at the same time keep an eye on the future options.
