Young heroes shine at the district singing day: Choir of the year excellent!

On March 16, 2025, the district singing day of the Bigge-Lenne singing group took place in the shooting range of the St. Anna Rifle Brotherhood in Lenhausen. As part of this festive event, the children's and youth choir "Young Helden" was honored by District Administrator Theo Melcher entitled "Choir of the Year". This award is recognition of the outstanding commitment of the choir, which extends far beyond the borders of the repetal.

The district administrator not only presented a certificate, but also a money gift in the amount of 500 euros. In his eulogy, Melcher emphasized the active presence of the "young heroes" at various events. With its activities, the choir promotes the joy of the older generation and is involved in public relations through projects and competitions. In addition, the association aims to support other children's and youth choirs in the district of Olpe and to maintain their independence by working together with them as a subgroup.

a strong network

The meaning of the Bigge-Lenne singing circle is impressive: over 80 clubs with about 110 choirs and groups are organized there. A total of more than 2400 active members and over 4,000 support members belong to this network. The number of members is stable and German country can be proud of the high quality of the choirs, which include many performance slices and "master choirs" in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The event brought with it a number of elections in which Steffen Keller was unanimously re -elected as chairman. Mayor Achim Henkel praised the endurance and durability of the long -time choir members and emphasized the cultural and social contribution that the choirs make for the region. The district singing day was also organized by the “Lennear” women's choir from Lenhausen, which ensured an excellent organization of the event.

look into the future

An important agenda items were the planned courses, including a special for male choirs, which is to take place on April 5 in the parish home Elben. The new district treasurer Susanne Wigger presented her first cash report, while the session ended with a singing of the national anthem. The delegated representatives of the children's and youth choirs were also invited, which underlines the inclusive orientation of the singing circle.

At the district singing day, not only the price was awarded, but also the course was set for the future. The promotion of choral singing and the preservation of the choirs in the Olpe district are still the focus of the activities. It remains exciting to see how the commitment of the "young heroes" and other ensembles will develop.
