Interactive art: Exhibition is open enthusiastic in Paderborn!

On Friday evening, April 4, 2025, the exhibition "Is open" was opened in the Paderborn Art Association. The exhibition, which can be seen until May 4, 2025, is under the curating of Imke Ruhrmann. Your goal is to actively integrate visitors into art and invite you to interact with the exhibits. Ruhrmann has already proven to be a competent agent in previous projects, such as her moderation in the exhibition "Pedro Reyes: Sociatry

An outstanding exhibit of the current show is a picnic blanket, which was designed with the title "Break Bread" from textiles. Visitors have the opportunity to lie down or sit on it, while the paragraphs of the Working Hours Act are listed over the ceiling for breaks and rest periods. This interactive element should stimulate thought about legal requirements and personal rest periods.

the curator and her career

Imke Ruhrmann brings a rich academic and practical experience into her role as curator. After training as a media designer picture and sound at ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE from 2016 to 2019 she worked in various positions, such as as a cut assistant and work student. At the same time, from 2020 to 2021 she studied a two-fold Bachelor in sociology as well as art, music and theater at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

Since 2021 she has been pursuing another two-fold stream in art and art education as well as media sciences at the University of Paderborn and is also involved in the sculpture as a student assistant. In 2025 she was with the Dr. Käthe-Sander-Wietfeld promotion award, which underlines her commitment and talents in the art scene.

interactive art mediation in focus

The exhibition "is open" is part of a larger trend that puts the interaction and commitment of visitors at the center of the art education. Similar to the hybrid art mediation program "My Pinnwand Museum" of the Kunsthalle Bremen, which aims at digital learning and creative discussion, Ruhrmann's exhibition also wants to create accessible access to art. Digital tools and workshops could offer support for similar projects in the future.

In a time when art mediation is increasingly interacted, the positive response from the visitors shows that the need for personal interaction and individual examination of art is strong. With her visionary approach, Imke Ruhrmann helps to meet this need and make art accessible to a wider audience.

The vernissage for the exhibition "Is open" not only offers an insight into Ruhrmann's artistic work, but also a platform for reflection on the role of art in our society and the importance of breaks in hectic everyday life.
