On Tuesday afternoon, May 6, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred in the crossing area Kampstrasse and Hagenstraße in Marl, Recklinghausen district. A total of four people were injured in the incident, including two seriously. The accident took place around 3:20 p.m. and involved three vehicles.

According to initial findings of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger , a 24-year-old driver from Schermbeck collided with an oncoming vehicle. The 29-year-old driver from Marl and his 28-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries during the collision and had to be taken to the hospital. The other two drivers, the 24-year-old and a 30-year-old in a third vehicle, wore minor injuries and were treated on site.

The course of the accident

The course of the accident is still the subject of investigations by the Recklinghausen police. The 24-year-old driver wanted to turn left into Hagenstrasse from Kampstrasse when the 29-year-old's vehicle was collapsed. The force of the impact was thrown against a traffic light mast, whereupon it bounced down and collided with the 30-year-old car. All three vehicles were no longer ready to drive after the accident and had to be towed.

The total damage is estimated at around 50,000 euros. In addition, the traffic light system was also significantly damaged, which could further exacerbate the danger situation on this traffic artery, such as the Express reported.
