On February 1, 2025, a comprehensive exercise of the emergency services took place in the quarry near Bergheim, which served to improve cooperation in operations in rough terrain. Several organizations, including the Johanniter-Sar unit, took part in this practical exercise, the rescue dog squadron of the DRK Friedberg, the Büdingen police and the fire department south of the Ortenberg fire brigade.
MHI Naturstein GmbH provided the site, which offered an ideal environment to carry out the exercises.

The course of the exercise initially included a theoretical instruction in which the specific tasks of each unit were explained. This was followed by the practical implementation, which was divided into search of people in three scenarios. The firefighters carried out a systematic search of the extensive area, while the rescue dog squadron in the adjacent forest searched for missing people.

An important part of the exercise was the use of drones by a special Johanniter relay. This technology was used to create high -resolution recordings and heat images that helped effectively narrow the search areas. The result of the exercise was consistently positive: all missing persons could be found quickly. The event emphasized the efficiency of the teams and emphasized mutual respect and smooth communication between the different units.

After the strenuous exercise, the participants were able to strengthen the team spirit with grilled sausages and hot drinks. Overall, the exercise was considered a complete success and offered valuable experiences to the emergency services that will help improve disaster protection in the region.
