Safe jobs: new machine protection gates for hydrogen production!

EFAFLEX has installed innovative machine protection gates in the new Hexagon Purus production hall to increase safety at handicrafts. These gates were specially designed in order to separate handicrafts from movable machine parts, especially robot areas and transport routes. The new machine protection gates open from the bottom up and offer effective protection for employees who work near automated processes, such as when installing valves for hydrogen pressure containers.

The Hexagon Purus production facility produces type 4 hydrogen pressure container, and the goal solutions EFA-SRT MS USD were planned and installed by the machine manufacturer Aue Kassel. These goals ensure that access to the automatic area is only temporarily released if containers of up to four meters are introduced or executed. An additional safety factor is the required barrier height of at least one meter to prevent unauthorized access.

Technical details of the machine protection gates

The EFA-SRT MS USD is a self-supporting roller door that can be screwed into the ground and has integrated floor supports. With configurable dimensions of 600 to 6,000 mm width and 1,000 to 4,500 mm high, it offers numerous adaptation options. The locking of the gate is certified according to DIN EN ISO 14120 and acts both as a movingly separating protection and retention facility for people. An end position switch ensures the electrical lock between the gate and the corresponding system. In addition, the changing shaft and drive are completely covered with sheet metal profiles to ensure the protection of intervention.
