20 new referees in the Rhein-Sieg district successfully trained!

On February 16, 2025, a total of 20 new referees were trained in the Rhein-Sieg district. The training took place on the modern facility of SV Menden, where the participants not only had to demonstrate theoretical knowledge, but also physical fitness. This included a running test that was part of the comprehensive training. The prospective referees, which come from cities such as Siegburg, Sankt Augustin, Hennef and Troisdorf, had to consist of both oral and written tests.

The referee training is an important process for the Football Circle Sieg, which currently employs over 190 referees who lead games in various age and performance levels every week. The district referee committee is already planning the next newcomer to the summer to win more talented referees. Interested parties can report via www.schiri-werden.de or simply via email to Erkan Zorlu at Erkan.zorlu@fvm.de.

advantages and requirements for referees

The referee system not only offers many young people the opportunity for personal development, but also real advantages, such as free qualified training and further education and free admission to all football games. There are also expenses and reimbursements that promote the commitment. In particular, the younger referees have the chance to rise and take responsibility.

The requirements for prospective referees are demanding. In addition to courage, strength of character and assertiveness, sporty and mental fitness as well as a good understanding of the German language in the word and writing are essential. Minor referees must be at least 14 years old, although in exceptional cases, 13-year-olds can take part with the appropriate personality. It is also necessary for you to be a member of a football club.

structures and further education

The training itself is made up of theoretical and practical units. In addition to the course data, which are published on The official pages of the FVM , constant training offers and exams are essential. Regular performance tests for higher leagues are also part of the path of a referee. The first missions mostly take place in the youth area or in the lower play classes, accompanied by experienced colleagues. Fun and commitment are particularly popular here.

The referee training places great importance to respect for the rules and fair play. These principles are not only fundamental to the game itself, but also create the necessary authority on the field. Respectful behavior is crucial for the integrity of sport and promoting the sporting spirit. The football association also provides extensive training materials to optimally support prospective referees.
