Flowering women's carnival: Flower Power inspires Burscheid!

In the city of Burscheid, the 2025 carnival season is celebrated with a colorful women's carnival of the Burscheider local group of Catholic women (KfD). The event is under the motto "Flower Power" and takes place in the parish of St. Laurentius. At the first appointment on Tuesday afternoon, the organizers expect around 170 enthusiastic participants.

The decoration of the parish is reflected in the motto and includes, among other things, colorful pril flowers, a 70s VW bus and numerous hippies. The organizer Stephanie Messing, which has been in use for many years, is responsible for the design and drinks. This event marks a special fresh start because it is the first after the forced break through Corona pandemic. Already two sold -out dates indicate great interest.

A look at the story

The women's carnival in Burscheid has a long tradition and has existed for at least 50 years. The event was particularly popular before the pandemic, which was shown in an overcrowded meeting last year. This year the organizers increased the number of dates and start at both days of meeting at 5 p.m., instead of at 3 p.m.

The program of the women's carnival largely relies on the KFD women's own contributions. Guest appearances are also expected, including the triumvirate from Dabringhausen on the first appointment and a dance group from Lützenkirchen on the second evening. The event is moderated by Martina Dürdoth, which will create the humorous atmosphere. The contributions thus promise diverse entertainment, including with a modern version of Max and Moritz and singing by Maria Heitkamp.
