A look at the Bürgerbus
Citizens' buses are a significant addition to local public transport in Germany, especially in rural regions. While there were over 400 citizens 'bus traffic in Germany in 2022, there is a significant share in North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg, where over 50 percent of the citizens' bus associations can be found. A typical citizen bus transports between 5,000 and 20,000 passengers annually. These figures illustrate the important role that citizens' buses play in the mobility of the population. The country supports these initiatives to improve mobility, especially in rural areas. Further information on the routes and timetables is available on the website line249.de
In addition, interested passengers are available to have a telephone number under which you can call the needs stops. The feedback from the population will be particularly important during trial operation to integrate the owl flight line into the regular timetable if a positive response.
