Young musicians conquer Montepulciano: talent and tradition united!

The young orchestra of the Burscheid (MOSB) music and orchestra school embarked on an exciting journey. The ensemble has been back in Montepulciano, Italy, where it works intensively on its musical skills. This trip was initiated by the idea that was born about a year ago and has developed into an important event for the young musicians.

The orchestra, consisting of around 30 talented instrumentalists between the ages of 12 and 17, has been managed by Simon Roloff for about ten years. Despite the absence of some members due to family obligations, the ensemble is fully occupied. The young musicians receive support from Sybille Conrad and Thomas Kochenburger, who take care of the bassoon and trumpet voices.

intensive samples in the Palazzo Ricci

A central place for rehearsals is the Palazzo Ricci, which was opened in 2001 and houses the European Academy of Music and Performing Art. This institution is the only German cultural institute in Italy that focuses on music. The academy, which is worn by the Cologne University of Music and Dance, has set itself the goal of promoting encounters between talented artists from Europe.

Ulrich Haas, who is part of the management team, emphasizes that the ensemble has made a considerable leap. The rehearsals focus on South American and Irish music that help to train the musicians' feeling of rhythm. This not only works musically, but also the social cohesion of the orchestra is strengthened, which is particularly noticeable during the trip.

The musicians' accommodation takes place in various apartments in Montepulciano, which contributes to team education. In addition, a cultural trip to Pienza, a nearby city, is planned to further discover the cultural roots of the region.

concert dates and outlook

On May 18 and September 6, concerts are already set in Burscheid, in which the orchestra appears under the name "L’Orchestra Giovanile di Burscheid". Solists such as Alexander Wendt (Tuba) and Caroline Frese (clarinet) will support the ensemble and offer the audience an unforgettable music experience.

The journey and belonging to the European Academy not only grant the young musicians an excellent platform for musical development, but also contribute to strengthening intercultural exchange programs. In this context, the demand for the academy, which is increasingly used by Italian cultural partners from the region, increases. Thus, the cultural diversity is not only celebrated, but also actively promoted what is of great importance for a common future of cultures.

More information about the academy can be found on the Wikipedia for music and performing art Montepulciano , as well as details on the various exchange programs on Volkskulturkreis .
