Shocking statistics: Almost every second one falls through the driver's license test!
Shocking statistics: Almost every second one falls through the driver's license test!
In North Rhine-Westphalia, almost half of the prospective drivers fail during the theory test for the driver's license. According to the current data of the TÜV association, the diarrhea rate last year was 44 percent, a value similar to 2023, where 45 percent of the test subjects did not pass the theoretical test. This is sent to the German Press Agency and illustrate the alarming development in the field of driving license tests in Germany.
In total, more than 447,000 theoretical and 402,000 practical driver's license tests were carried out nationwide in 2024. A particularly worrying tendency is the increase in attempts to deceive. These rose from 949 to 1,368 in the current year. Frequent deception include cheat sheets and unauthorized technical aids, including buttons in the ear. In every fourth case, another person is a test subject, and frightening 58 percent of the deceptive act professionally.
legal situation and demands for amendment
The TÜV department head Richard Goebelt calls for more consistent use of the legal framework by the driving license authorities. In the case of exams, with the exception of the deputy fake, fraud is not being punished as a criminal offense or administrative offense. The ADAC also provides information about the high costs for a car driver's license that is between 2,500 and 4,400 euros.
In order to lower the diarrhea rate, the TÜV association recommends the introduction of electronic learning status controls in the driving schools. This measure could help improve the quality of driving training and ultimately to counteract the challenges of the current exam statistics.
an alarming development in the national trend
In the Germany -wide context, a worrying trend is also emerging. In 2023, 1.97 million theoretical driving tests were carried out, which corresponds to an increase of 150,000 exams (plus 8 percent) compared to the previous year. This number increases with regard to the practical exams, which rose slightly to 1.77 million. The diarrhea rate in the theoretical test has achieved a new negative record with 42 percent, which is an increase of 3 percentage points compared to the previous year.
of the theoretical exams were around 720,000 repeat tests, 54 percent of which were not passed. The non -existence rate for the practical exams was 30 percent. Outsiders therefore not only recommend an improvement in the examination content, but also a strengthening of mobility education in schools and better preparation for the exams.
The test results are based on data from all technical testing centers in Germany and were collected until January 31, 2025. This development not only presents the driving schools, but also those responsible at a political and organizational level with enormous challenges and requires a rethink in the quality of the training.
For future initiatives, the introduction of an EU-wide digital driver's license is considered necessary in order to minimize the administrative effort and to further promote mobility in Europe.
