Libraries in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district: trends and insider tips 2024
On December 29, 2024, the libraries in the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein presented their most popular media and developments for the coming year 2025. The library in Siegen has a remarkable trend: 27 of the 30 mostly borrowed media consist of the popular tonie hearing characters. Wim Wenders' film “Perfect Days” has established itself as the most loaned film. In the fiction, Nele Neuhaus's crime thriller leads the ranking list, followed by Christina Ohlsson's "Die Dead in Sturm" and Annette Schäfer's "Her last 'Moin!'". In the area of children's literature, classics such as “The School of Magic Animals” are very popular, while "Demon Slayer" is among the youth books of the manga.
The borrowing of digital media is accounted for by the "on -loan" 17 % of the total borrowing in Siegen. While the number of readers decreases, it turns out that the remaining readers use more intensely. Works by Boktok, Crime novels and console games for Nintendo DS are particularly recommended. The function of the library as a place of encounter and further education is also becoming increasingly important. For 2025, the library also plans to introduce the "library of things" that aim to promote sustainability and resource conservation.

In the municipality of Netphen, picture books, tonies and games are particularly in demand, whereby "Gregs diaries" and "The Billa potheke" are among the leading children's books. Hilchenbach lists successes with the titles "Wind strength 17" and "Love on lousy days" in fiction as well as with the "The Three ??? Kids" among children's books. In Freudenberg, Tonies, especially "Paw Patrol" and the "nohorn", dominate, while Bad Berleburg has increasing demand for non -fiction books for self -discovery and gains many new customers. Bates and children's books such as "Hotzenplotz" and Tonies are also very popular in Wilnsdorf. In Neunkirchen, "The Little Witch" and "Conni Pizza" bakes the list of most popular children's books, while "the diamond girl" is in demand among adults. In view of the developments, the libraries rely on sustainable offers and digitization for 2025.
Innovative loose model: Library of Things
Another important step in the field of library development is the implementation of the "library of things", which enables borrowing of devices and objects that cannot be found in conventional libraries. This innovative loan promotes borrowing instead of buying and makes a contribution to sustainability and an environmentally conscious consumption. The library of things currently comprises 100 loanable positions, including an electric guitar, a sewing machine and a locking set. The location is located on the 3rd floor of the Ludwigshafen City Library, where an overview can be found in a glass showcase in the Ideenw3RK. The loan requires a full -fledged ID from the Ludwigshafen City Library or a metropolcard and is supported by employees of the library who help with the loan and check the completeness. The return of these articles is only possible during the opening hours of the 3. OG, without return machines. The loan period is a maximum of four weeks, without possibility to extend. There are no fees, but a fee -based reservation of 1 euro per item is possible. Users are liable for damage they cause and must report them immediately. A maximum number of three articles can be borrowed per person at the same time, and the minimum age for the loan is 18 years. These developments show that the libraries not only offer traditional media, but are also increasingly establishing themselves as modern service centers.
