The groundbreaking for the new tool shed of the Millich volunteer fire brigade took place at the beginning of this week. Because the analysis of the new fire protection requirement plan has clearly shown that the existing building no longer meets the current requirements. It was therefore decided to build a new building on Baufenberger Straße in the corner to Schützenwinkel. With a gross floor area of 558 square meters, the new fire station will include a vehicle hall for two emergency vehicles with an area of 177 square meters. In order to meet the needs of the fire brigade members, there are also 20 parking spaces for cars that are available to the emergency services. A particularly important aspect of the new building is the barrier -free functional tract, which is designed for 40 changing rooms - 30 for men and 10 for women. In addition to the changing rooms, modern training rooms are planned. The training room will be around 60 square meters, while the youth room has an area of around 20 square meters.

In times when the security and health of the emergency services are top priority, attention was also paid to relevant occupational and health protection regulations when planning the new fire station. Hazards such as too small parking space sizes, poor traffic routes and slippery floors must be avoided.
The construction work for the new tool shed begins in April 2025 and should be completed by April 2026. The costs for the comprehensive project amount to around 2.8 million euros. This investment project ensures the usefulness of the Millich fire brigade in the long term and will increase the security of the citizens in the community. Overall, this project shows how important the correct planning and execution of fire station is in order to meet the special requirements of the fire service.
