Ahlen Art Museum: New courses and exciting exhibitions 2025!
On January 5, 2025, a new course offer was initiated at the art museum in Ahlen. This development goes back to the long-term connection of Alois Brinkkötter, the former head of the Fritz-Winter Comprehensive School in Ahlen, to the national cultural institution. In 2006, his wife registered him as a gift for a sculpture course in the art museum, which was carried out with great success. This led to the establishment of a fixed group with other interested parties.
The Ahlen Art Museum was founded in October 1993 and was created from a private initiative by the entrepreneur Theodor F. Leifeld. In order to implement the museum, a listed villa from the Wilhelminian period was restored. This villa, which was built in the style of the Neurenaissance, is located on the former west gate of the city. In 1996 the museum received an expansion and now formed an ensemble from three buildings of different eras of architectural history, including a 19th century villa, a steel-glass composite construction from the 20th century and a farmhouse from the 18th century.
