Inclusion check NRW: More than 370 projects for barrier -free cooperation!
The "Inclusion Check NRW" was introduced in 2019 to strengthen the participation of people with disabilities in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2024, a total of 376 inclusion checks were approved, which means an increase of 117 compared to the previous year. The flat rate of 2,000 euros that clubs and organizations receive serves to design their offers. This was emphasized by Social Minister Karl-Josef Laumann, who emphasizes the promotion of creative initiatives and continues the program by 2025 despite the difficult budget.
The most common use of the inclusion checks consisted of purchases or conversions to improve accessibility. In 86 cases, projects were encouraged, which included structural measures such as the conversion of inputs, the installation of stair lifts or the purchase of mobile timpani for the Spielmannszug "Blau-Weiß" in Essen-Heisingen. In addition, 58 measures to carry out information events, further training and project days, for example a day of sign language at the Paul-Gerhardt primary school in Bonn, were supported.

Furthermore, including sports offers were funded in 56 cases, including offers in disciplines such as riding, swimming, sailing, archery and football. Including leisure activities rose by 25 to a total of 39 checks, with projects at the Rosa Parks comprehensive school in Ennigerloh and Neubeckum. The number of funded inclusive cultural and media projects has almost doubled, so 38 projects were supported compared to 20 this year. Prominent examples are "We make radio" in the district of Lemgo and "Podcast for Inclusion" in Solingen.
In addition, the barrier -free web design was funded in 51 cases, public relations in 16 cases and including festivals in 32 cases. Since 2019, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs has been providing a minimum amount of 500,000 euros annually. Applications for the inclusion checks can be made easily online, whereby the activities address a large group of people, take place in North Rhine-Westphalia and have to be carried out in the same year. For the year 2023, the program is also supported by the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs, with an overall availability of 500,000 euros. Associations and organizations can now apply for a flat rate of 2,000 euros. The objective lies in the promotion of the coexistence of people with and without disabilities.
