Dinslaken receives fast internet: fiber optic expansion starts soon!

Vodafone and WestConnect are expanding their cooperation in fiber optic expansion in North Rhine-Westphalia. According to Mobiflip , the first joint fiber optic project in Dinslaken is realized. From June 2025, around 17,000 households and companies are to be supplied with Internet, TV and telephone offers. This extensive initiative is carried out as a self -economic project without having to use public funding.

The city of Dinslaken offers its support because the project plays an important role in the region's digital infrastructure. The planned expansion areas include the districts of Averbruch, Averbruch West, city center, Eppinghoven, Hagenviertel, Feldmark and Blumenviertel. The pre -marketing of the fiber optic connections begins on June 1, 2025, and the civil engineering could probably be recorded at the end of 2025, as the Presseportal

technical infrastructure and use

The technical infrastructure is built by WestConnect, while Vodafone will take over rental and operating rights. This cooperation enables the use of existing FTTC infrastructures that are converted to FTTH (fiber to the home). One of the main goals is to achieve transmission rates in the Gigabit area. Fixed fiber connections are considered energy -efficient and future -proof compared to traditional copper -based networks. This is particularly relevant because a fiber optic connection can also increase the value of real estate and make rental properties more attractive.

In addition to the expansion in Dinslaken, around 22,000 households in over 100 towns of fiber optic connections have been able to benefit since summer 2023 in the Rhein-Hunsrück district. These measures are also implemented in cooperation between Vodafone and West Connect, which is a future -proof approach for digital communication in the region.

focus on digital infrastructure in NRW

The initiative in Dinslaken is part of a larger context in which North Rhine-Westphalia takes steps to improve digital infrastructure. In this context, the Digital Infrastructure Competence Center was founded in North Rhine -Westphalia (KDI NRW). The goal is the more efficient design of expansion of glass fiber, mobile radio and data centers. NRW was the first state to pursue these topics together, such as Land NRW

The fiber optic supply in NRW has improved significantly in recent years. From 20% in 2022, the cover rose to 37% in 2024. In addition, the mobile phone supply increased from 71% to 95%. With a budget of over 4 million euros, the KDI NRW will further promote digital infrastructure, while an annual mobile phone measurement program is supposed to check the quality of the mobile phone. The initiative to improve the digital infrastructure is not only progress for dinslaken, but an important step for the entire region of North Rhine-Westphalia.
