PEEK & Cloppenburg saves meaning: 34 branches remain closed!

On April 30, 2025, the fashion industry was able to record a ray of hope. Peek & Cloppenburg (P&C) officially planned to take on meaning and received the approval of the Federal Cartel Office. This decision comes at a critical time, since the insolvent fashion chain has had to register bankruptcy several times in recent years. The influence of the takeover will have far -reaching consequences, especially for the 34 branch locations that P&C under the direction of Isabella Göbel wants to continue to receive.

The creditors of the insolvent sense chain have decided that Göbel will remain at the top of the company in order to advance the renovation project. This is crucial for the future of the fashion house, which has already registered bankruptcy four times and was looking for sustainable solutions. In the past, various measures were taken to rescue, but there are doubts about the economic stability of the brand.

Future of the branches and employees

For the 1500 Sinn employees, there is currently an all -clear: no layoffs are planned. This could be a positive news, especially for the branch on Hindenburgstrasse in Mönchengladbach, which will continue to exist for the time being. However, the environment of this branch is challenging because the Hindenburgstrasse suffers from an increasing vacancy.

The focus is now on the implementation of the renovation plan under the direction of Isabella Göbel. It is important to increase the attractiveness of the brand and the problems so far that led to financial difficulties.

Peek & Cloppenburg's renovation strategy

In turn,

PEEK & Cloppenburg registered bankruptcy in March 2023. Managing Director Thomas Joy announced that in some of the 69 locations there will be a reduction in the sales areas. In an innovative approach, the company plans to integrate "mixed use concepts", whereby hotels or offices are to be combined with the sales areas. The exchange with landlords is already underway to implement these plans.

A central point of Freudes strategy is the realignment of the online business, which currently makes up 10 % of total sales. However, joy emphasizes that an increase is not aimed at more than 15 %. The deficit online business contributes significantly to the financial imbalance. In addition, P&C will say goodbye to flat -rate discounts and instead only offer targeted discounts at the end of the season to increase revenues in existing branches.

In the meantime, the question of the economic future of meaning and the entire fashion industry remains relevant. The upcoming decisions, especially with regard to the renovation, will be crucial. The success of these measures could not only have a sense, but also the entire retail environment.
