Donation hike for cancer aid: 32 hikers master 24 km!
On December 28, 2024, an event took place in favor of the German Cancer Aid, in which around 32 participants and 2 dogs mastered the approximately 100 -Kilometer circular route around Grünberg. The donation hike was organized by Karin Rühl and started after a sunny morning with temperatures around the freezing point at Grünberger Marktplatz. The participants conquered several stages, including a first stop after 4 km at the train station in Göbelnrod, as well as stations at the playground in Saasen and a round of arches via Reinhardshain. The entire hike ended in Grünberg again after about 24 km and 5 hours and 48 minutes.
A second group of long -distance hikers, which belonged to Rühl, hiked a slightly different route that led through Lumda, Atzenhain and Lehnheim. This group arrived in Grünberg an hour earlier than planned. During the hike, a coffee break was planned in Flensungen at 2 a.m. Rühl, who also reached the 100 km mark at the end of the day, reported difficulties in drinking in the last round at -6 ° C. She was particularly supported by Silja Römer's son who brought coffee.
donations and future projects
A total of 200 euros could be collected throughout the event. By December 31, 2024, another 1,183 euros were paid for the German Cancer Aid on an online account. The next project by Karin Rühl is a donation hike for flood victims, which is to take place from January 17th to 18th, 2025 and comprises a distance of 150 km from Lollar-Odenhausen to Ahrweiler. at the same time, the Giessener-allgemeine.de reported on another hike, which was also organized by Karin Rühl. Around 40 participants took part in a 52 -kilometer hike, which began at Grünberger Marktplatz and served to support the Grünberg Tafel. On the day of this hike, Rühl celebrated her 52nd birthday and chose the length of the route accordingly. The hiking included two loops and each participant was able to decide how far they wanted to go. There was no fixed donation goal; Every support was welcome.
