Crime in Neuwied: 7.4% decline in crimes 2024!

On March 11, 2025, the police crime statistics (PKS) in 2024 was published for the Neuwied police department. This shows a significant decrease of 7.4 percent in the crimes in the Koblenz police headquarters. In 2023, 71,346 crimes were recorded, while it was only 66,082 last year. This breaks with a trend that had already been observed in previous years.

The police department Neuwied itself registered 15,992 crimes, which corresponds to a decline of 0.9 percent compared to 2023 when 16,133 crimes were recorded. In particular in the Neuwied district, the number of crimes dropped from 9,681 to 9,644, while in the district of Altenkirchen the cases decreased from 6,452 to 6.348

crime development in the region

The educational rate in the Neuwied police department remains 65.6 percent above the national average of Rhineland-Palatinate, which is 64.3 percent. Despite the positive development in the overall numbers, there were some areas in which crime rose. Crimes and crimes against personal freedom recorded an increase of 5.0 percent to 3,580 cases. The theft offenses also increased by 2.3 percent, with the number of simple pickpocketing by 20.0 percent to 132 cases.

The diving of housing, which rose by 7.5 percent on a total of 215 cases, are particularly worrying, with over half of the cases an attempt remained. In contrast, a decline of 19.7 percent to 435 cases was found in the crimes against sexual self -determination.

changes in the field of drug crime

A remarkable aspect is the decline in drug crime by 32.0 percent to 1,103 cases. This decline is partially attributed to the partialization of cannabis. The decline is all the more pronounced compared to the Germany -wide statistics, where the number of drug offenses rose by 1.8 percent in 2023, with a worrying increase in the crimes related to cocaine and crack by 29.1 percent.

The police crime statistics depicts the so -called light field of crime, that is, it only captures end -edited crimes and leaves dark field statistics that include the crimes that are not known to the police. While the statistics are positive, the nationwide location is shaped by a variety of factors, including a high immigration rate and social stress by inflation.

Overall, the PKS 2024 shows that despite a decline in the crimes in the Neuwied region, there are some problematic developments. A comprehensive consideration and sustainable prevention measures are necessary to further work on improving the security situation in the region.
