Protests against CDU: outrage about deciding on migration policy!
Around 500 people demonstrated against the CDU in Landau today. The protest took place in front of the future workshop of the CDU parliamentary group in Kramstrasse. The reason was the controversial votes in the Bundestag to tighten migration policy, in which the CDU received a majority with votes from the AfD. This decision provides excitement nationwide and is viewed by many as a considerable political rethink of the CDU. Demonstrating criticize the loss of the so -called fire wall for the AfD, which many intended as protection against right -wing populist influences.
Björn Eisenmann, from the Association for Tolerance and Humanity, commented on the situation and spoke of sadness and anger. The association, which had called for the spontaneous assembly together with the Landau climate strike, received support from other institutions, including two Landau Christian churches, AStA and an open anti -fascist meeting. The police were also on site and announced a corresponding estimate of the number of participants after the editorial deadline. CDU district chairman Oliver Blanz emphasized that the city council group had nothing to do with the vote and that working with the AfD in Landau was not considered.
political reactions and nationwide outrage
The decision in the Bundestag, which was made by the CDU, the AfD and the FDP, marks a historical moment: for the first time in the history of the Federal Republic, an application with votes from the AfD received a majority. The Bundestag spoke in favor of a comprehensive rejection of asylum seekers at the German borders. This caused a wave of outrage, which also offered prominent voices, like Luisa Neubauer, from the climate protection milieu. Neubauer demanded in an Instagram reel that the company should actively keep the fire wall against right-wing extremism.
Numerous other protest actions are already planned today and in the coming days. In addition to today's demonstration in Landau, rallies in cities such as Berlin, Göttingen and Bonn are also registered, which are directed against the decisions of the CDU and the cooperation with the AfD. Among other things, Demos in Altenkirchen and Ansbach as well as for February 2nd are planned for February 1st. Similar actions will also follow in Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart.
Current protests and social mood
According to reports, around 6,000 people gathered in front of the CDU party center in the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus in Berlin, where the employees were asked to leave the building. Also in Leipzig and other cities, including Dresden, Düsseldorf, Freiburg and Munich, thousands of people demonstrate against the current political situation. Activists have registered dozens of demonstrations for the coming days. The organization "Campact" cooperates together with the German Trade Union Confederation and "Fridays for Future" and is planning a train through the Berlin government district on Sunday. The political tensions in Germany are currently at a highest level, and new elections are in the room. The staging of the CDU, which historically always delimited against the AfD, now seems to be questioned and has led to a profound discussion about the values and the future of the political landscape both within the party and in public spaces.
