Traffic control in Altenkirchen: Driver unauthorized and drunk!

In the night of January 8, 2025, a 32-year-old driver was stopped during a traffic control. The control took place around 00:40 in Kölner Strasse. During the review, the police found that the driver had no valid driving license and also drunk and were at the wheel under the influence of narcotics. A blood sample was arranged and corresponding legal steps were initiated. The Neuwied/Rhein Police Directorate informed about the incident at 02:39 a.m.

This incident is not isolated. In 2022, drug crime in Germany shows an increase in how the police statistics show. A total of 346,877 drug offenses were reported, which corresponds to an increase of 1.8 % compared to the previous year. The clearance rate remained relatively high at 90.8 %, but the number of suspects rose to 266,280. Cocaine offenses rose by 27.4 % to a new high, while heroin trade offenses went back slightly.
