Thomas Quasthoff: Rheingau Music Prize 2025 for a voice of extra class!

The Rheingau Music Prize 2025 is awarded to the renowned opera singer Thomas Quasthoff. This reports the Rheinpfalz . The award ended with 10,000 euros is handed over as part of the Rheingau Music Festival (RMF), which takes place in Oestrich-Winkel. This is the 32nd allocation of the price that Quasthoff recognizes for its outstanding achievements in the music scene.

Hesse's Minister of Culture Timon Gremmels praised the "unique bass baritone voice" and the creative skills of the singer. Quasthoff is not only known for his appearances, but is also involved as a professor and is actively committed to the youngsters in singing. The artist has significantly shaped the international music world for over five decades.

Ceremonial award ceremony in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden

The official award ceremony will take place on August 26, 2025 in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, as part of a lively concert. The award winner is named in a series of events that focuses on Quasthoff's artistic work. Former winners of the Rheingau Music Prize illustrate the high level of this award. Among others, Gidon Kremer (1996), Daniel Barenboim and the West Eeastern Divan Orchestra (2020) and Julia Fischer (2024) received the price.

The Rheingau Music Festival itself starts on June 21, 2025 and lasts until September 6th. In this 38th edition, around 150 events are planned in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, which take place in castles, museums, wineries, monasteries, churches and hotels. The festival offers a wide range of musical performances, from classical music to pop and jazz, including open-air concerts.

The RMF promises a multifaceted program that has something to offer for everyone. The festival was very well received as early as 2023. Well-known artists such as soprano Vannina Santoni and the HR Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Alain Altinoglu could be experienced in the opening ceremony. The annual motto of the festival, "A summer full of music", will be in the foreground again in the coming season. The festival not only has top musical performance to offer, but also occurs in the most important places in the region, such as the Johannisberg Castle, the Eberbach monastery and the winding castle.

So far, over 140,000 tickets have been sold this year. The total costs of the festival amount to around 8 million euros, with sponsorship contracts, donations and a state subsidy of 25,000 euros contribute to financing. The main sponsors include Lotto Hessen and the prince of Metternich sparkling wine cellar. Hessische Rundfunk and other media partners are also involved in presenting and supporting the festival.
