20 years of Tafel Bad Dürkheim: helpers save tons of food every day!

On March 16, 2025, the Tafel Bad Dürkheim celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festive event that was all about recognizing the numerous helping helping. In his speech, chairman Werner Grill emphasized the central task of the board: to save food from destruction and pass it on to needy people. This important initiative has made a significant contribution to reducing food waste in the past two decades and at the same time helped financially weak households.

In Germany, daily gaps of food land on the garbage, often only because of expired durability data or minor defects. At the same time, many people are forced to save on food from the financial means when buying food. The Tafel Bad Dürkheim e.V. has set itself the task of collecting excess but qualitatively perfect food and making them accessible to these needy. The facility supports around 800 customers weekly, including around 350 children who are dependent on this help.

A decisive factor for the success of the Bad Dürkheim table are the approximately 80 volunteers. They are the backbone of the organization and ensure that the food donations are accepted, processed and distributed. The board ensures that not only food is distributed, but also hygiene items are available. These help come against a small symbolic amount, which is a great relief for many recipients.
