Deidesheim presents itself as an attractive destination for gourmets and those interested in history. The newly invaluable culinary city tour, led by event manager Yvonne Graf, has already been behind the premiere and offers the participants a unique combination of history and enjoyment. The city not only attracts visitors with its history, but also through events such as the goat auction, Weinkerwe and the Christmas market.
This city tour is now also being established in Deidesheim after the concept has been successfully implemented in Speyer. Under the direction of city guide Herbert Gießen, the participants learn all sorts of interesting facts about history and viticulture during the tour through the picturesque city. The tour starts at the goat fountain, where the guests are welcomed with sparkling wine, the "Palatinate Champagne". Gießen informs about the background of the fountain, which was designed by Gernot Rumpf in 1985.
Culinary highlights of the city tour
The premiere of the culinary city tour took place with a number of 10 people, which made it easier to exchange and ask. The route led from the goat fountain via the spa park to the riding hall, where hidden details about the city's history were explained. A special highlight was the Italian-Palatinate bruschetta with caramelized liver sausage in the winegrowers 'association, accompanied by a Sauvignon Blanc from the local winegrowers' association.
The main course consisted of braised cheeks in the "Bergkeller" restaurant, which was also served with a wine accompaniment. The tour ended in the inn "Zum Schwanen" with a delicious dessert. The next dates of the culinary city tour are scheduled for January 25, February 21, March 29 and May 2. Each group can consist of a maximum of 25 people; With higher registrations, several groups are formed.
The price for the culinary city tour amounts to 125 euros, including champagne reception, city tour and a three-speed menu in three different restaurants with wine accompaniment. The participating restaurants are the winegrowers' association, "Bergkeller", "Zum Schwanen" and the "Deidesheimer Hof".
